An unmolested E series bass should have the non-eyegouger headstock, and slot pole pickups.
This one has a late model neck and pickups.

Having said all that, it might still play and sound just fine, and be a good deal.

That one is'nt technically an "e-type", but even a nice '84-ish is worth $500 easily.

Someone grab that bass!

Couldn't it be an E, with different, later model neck and pickups?
Wouldn't be the first one I'd seen "bast-o-fied."

Sure, anything is possible, but there's no reason to automatically presume a neck transplant. And the poles in '82 are not normally slotted (tho early '82's sometimes are).

Unless he's a lying scammer, chances are the seller's memory is off a tad. Happens all the time.....(now where did I just put my damn keys?)
