It's got enough aged yellowing that it certainly looks like it should be original.

It'll be easy enough to make certain once you get it, though. Nice score, either way.

That's a great color. Never seen an SB-1 or SB-2 in that color. What color is it actually?

I passed on the last one I saw, it was a color I already had...kinda.
I have two early SB2's, the JJ version of this bass.

This was a neat-o color, and one I didn't have.

I've been wanting a bass to "wire the pickup right to the output jack with," this'll be the one. I'll make a new control plate in the shop: there will only be an output jack on it.

Unpolluted, undiluted Single J tone.

dunno, depends how it sounds with what's on there.

which looks to be tremendously junky old flats.
who knows, they might be the shizzle tho.

(probably DA XL170's fer me)

Glad to hear it found you. I'd hate for something like that to get into the hands of someone who doesn't appreciate it.

It's here, it's very nice.
If it's a refin, it's an old one, with lotsa nice weather checking.

And a very nice G&L G&G hard case.

More later (oh yeah, the strings are waaaaay dead ernie ball round slinkies)

I tore her down last night, cleaned and polished.
The pics look pretty clean, but she really shined up nice.
The fingerboard was pretty gunky; and had an odd spot under the E string, at the thrid position "G," where the laquer was worn thru. Two small drops of superglue over 10 minutes sealed it, and leveled it back out.

The tuners and bridge saddles polished out nicely.

Then, new DA XL170's and a basic setup, which I run basically as per the G&L set-up FAQ; more or less.
Set micro tilt to zero, or un-used.
Set neck bow to damn near flat.
Set the saddle height as prescribed by G&L, which has G and E saddle height almost slammed into the bridge, and A and D raised a little to match neck radius.
Then set saddle height to taste and string choice, set intonation; then, set the micro tilt as necessary if strings are too high at 15th position, or too low.
Just * a little* goes a long way with the micro tilt...

I agree with that. Once I got the hang of how to use it properly I can get great setups on all my old G&Ls.

Congrats on the score!!

But...but...but...what about the paint? I'm very curious about the actual color on that thing.

Does the color look just like the pics posted here?

What does it look like in the cavities?

Shoot, I didn't pull the neck off
The pics represent the color pretty well.

I can shoot some new ones if you like.
