5-string ASAT: Is there such a thing?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'd love a tele style bass, but I am looking for a 5 string. I don't really want to go the Warmoth route as every G&L I've played has been great. I've just never seen a 5 string ASAT. Anyone seen one?

Thanks!

I often enjoy phantom memories, but I vaguely recall seeing an ASAT 5 at BassNorthWest. Again, I'm probably trippin' hard.

Saw that photo too, and was bummed to find out that 1) they are pretty much unavailable, and 2) the neck dive issue.

I have been a fiver-only guy since the early 90's, but the ASAT brought me back to fours. I then realized how little I actually used the long thumbrest, I mean the B string. Still love my 5'ers, but now I'm lovin' me some G&L 4-bangers too.

A bassist on the Concert For Dianna used one a couple of months ago. My wifw was watching and wondering why I was flipping out.

I'm so glad that this bass is not black w/ white binding, RW board, and black headstock. It haunts me enough as it is.

OK...if the interest is high enough, I will contact G&L and see what would be necessary to do a "build to order" minimum run of ASAT 5s. We would have to reach some consensus on color, features, etc.

PM me if you would have interest and include your thoughts about configuration and the maximum $ you would be willing to pay. Please include info that I could use to contact you.

Perhaps any of you BABP owners could relate your experience on the L-2000 project.

It would be awesome if you guys ended up doing it a la the BABP L2K. Lucky for me I don't need a 5 string ASAT.
