#8 neck?

Sign in to disble this ad
I already have one L2000. But it doesn't fit in all the styles I play, I would like to get one with the #8 neck to go with the one I have now. Do any of you play with a number 8? Can you buy L2000's stock with them or only custom order?

I have an L-1500 with the #8, and love it. All my five basses have excellent playability, but it's the best. The #8 isn't the standard neck on an L-2000 (as you know), but some dealers are savvy and order their L-2000's with that neck. Otherwise it's a custom order.

My L2000 was originally ordered with a #8 neck, my favorite neck in the entire world.

Really?! I did not know that!! I think that might be my next purchase then. Is it possible to swap necks with an asat and an L2000? Because if I had one of each I'd probaly want the 8 on the L2000 and the stock on the ASAT, that'd be dreamy

Dealer Guitarman in NYC has two #8's in stock.

I'm not sure if the necks are simply interchangable. Personally I just don't think there's much out there cooler looking than an ASAT - and it's the same guts as the L2K.

Mine has the now discontinued birds eye maple fretboard option too.
With the GOT of gourse...

I'd probaly be using the asat neck in my crusty drunk punk band, so I'd want the sturdier body, but the bigger neck would be on the thinline for my acoustic gigs and slower music.

FedEx just droppped off my new L-2000 and it has the #8 neck (See my thread from last week "G&L Closeouts" in this forum).

I was concerned that Music123 did not list specs correctly, but they came thru and the bass is wonderful. Need to tweak the setup a bit and then start having fun exploring what I hope will be the "tone machine".

Snappy Tom...

Post the new bass up!

I have your bass's older twin....Honeyburst Ash, #8 neck, Rosewood board. Mine cost a bit more 2.5 years ago - your price during the closeout sale was a complete steal - congrats!

Thanks ....... I am liking this more each day and feel fortunate to have seen it during the closeout sale.
Great neck, probably the most comfortable I have played.
Well balanced and just under 9 pounds (bathroom scale method).
Tightened the truss rod 1/4 turn, put on straplocks and Fender 7250ML strings,
a bit of linseed oil on the fretboard, and here she is .....

I know we're hijacking the thread - very nice....ours are just a bit different, however, in that mine is quite a bit heavier - right at 10 pounds (maybe 10 and a bit), and it sounds like it!!! Just a really solid, meaty tone base in all pickup/switch positions.

Here she is (lighting makes the burst look more orange than honey - but she's a honeyburst all the way):
