Hi all - I am really eager to buy an L2000 and have found one (almost) in my price range but I have some questions for those of you with G&L experience.
1. This bass was made in 1992 - how is that as far as production time is regarded? Is it generally accepted as a high/low or just typical period as far as build quality and such?
2. The neck only has 3 screws holding it as opposed to the 6 that I have always seen (but always really only referring to newer models of the last few years). Was this the norm at that time period and is there any reason to think less of the bass?
I guess I am wondering if this is a known inferior model or production year or ???
I really want to pull the trigger on this but hate the idea of buying a bass online and being unhappy so please help me with any opinions, advice, whathaveyou about this particular bass.
thanks,
michael

As for the year, I can't really attest to that. I have a Legacy Bass that was probably made around that time and it's a great bass, but that's just anecdotal evidence. I don't know of any G&L periods that are supposed to be "better" or "worse," but I'm no expert. |

I have not heard of any years that are better or worse than others. IMO you will not go wrong if the bass is in good condition. Good luck. Let us see it if you decide to get it.

I own/ have owned 81,82,84,86,87,95,96,97,2000,and 2003, and there's no 'CBS' or 'Norlin" -isms. And nothing- NOTHING- can beat this one...
The Crown Royal Tiger...1997....has chased off or kicked the crap out of nearly every other bass that has tried to crack into the rack- vintage MusicMans and Fenders,- Hell, it doesn't play nice with other G&L's. Set up with switching for OMG/ single coil/ parallel, chiclets in. Hits like a 100-ton locomotive at 60 mph...

Edit: Just saw that you pulled the trigger. I think you are gonna be very happy if the bass is in good shape. Congrats!

Oh, and that whimpering and whining from the other side of the stage will be your guitard.
