Another My first G&L L2000 thread

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey y'all. I just bagged my first G&L a couple weeks ago. It was a trade for a keyboard I had (I don't play). It's missing a string. It sat unloved for a over a year to my knowledge. Tried to tune it and pop went the G.
I play mostly reggae so any G&L tips would be helpful! I've already got some FAQ reading done.
While I do play my 5 mostly, I almost always carry my 4 along for some tunes. I can't wait to hear how the "G"will sound.

Respec'

You can see some other pics on my MySpace site.

Well, I know you're going to love this bass. Check all the search engines and read the past postings to get lots of info. My L2000 is my favorite bass out of seven. Have fun messing with all the pick-up choices, passive/active possibilities and don't forget the tone knobs. Like they say, there are endless combinations. It should work great for reggae.
I love mine in passive and usually use neck pickup/parallel/passive with bass slightly turned down and highs tuned down a bit more for most of my playing. Cutting the highs gives a nice dubby tone. Also both pick-up/series is nice and thick sounding. If I use the bridge pick-up, I like series and messing with the tone knobs, especially the highs.

Thanks! It's probably more bass than I'd ever need, butit's nice to know I have quite a wide range that I can use for different gigs.

What is this "more bass than I'd ever need" thing of which you speak?

For the most part, I'm not a tinkerer. I liketo dial in my sound and get on with it. Just based on the comments about the basses so far, tonewise it's probably going to be the most flexible (tonally) bass I have ever had. So I'm saying it's going to be fun experimenting, but it won't happen much, especially in a gig situation.
