Hi there, I was just wondering if any of you G&L-aholics knew if the company has any plans of doing a 5 string version of the JB-2??

I think that'd be a great new addition to their roster.

cheers.

If they would make a 5-string SB-2 with an L-2500 neck that still sounds like an SB-2, I don't think I'd be able to wait for one on the used market.

The SB-2 and JB-2 are intended to be Leo's final refinements of his classic seminal designs. Methinks the lack of 5-string versions is in part due to a certain ethic at G&L; namely, an ethic of, "if Leo didn't work on a type, we won't build it." Even Fender did not release the 5-string versions of their classic models until after Leo's passing.

While the desire for 5-string SB-2 and JB-2 models is understandable, I simply think that the only 5-string models that G&L will make for the foreseeable future are the L-series.

I think that's only true of the SB-2. As I recall, the JB-2 is a post-Leo G&L. I think a five string version would make lots of sense given the popularity of J-type five strings.

A 5 string SB-2 would be a big seller I bet.
