Hey!

Anyone heard anything from Summer NAMM regarding G&L? It's been suspiciously quiet!

They weren't there. This show was very small and had a poor turnout overall. G&L has been very busy getting things together withe their CNC and PLEK machines and the build quality of their instruments from here on out should be better than ever.

Hey Matt any possibility of 1 5/8 necks as an option if CNC is being done?

I'll mention that to them - I'd like to see that myself.

I guess. It is the width of the earlier Leo era G&L basses.

Well 1 5/8 is the same neck as my Sabre so for pre-EB I guess they would be the same.
Dunno modern MM basses that well.

I'm pretty sure MM basses are 1 5/8. G&L was until somewhere around 1999 or 2000. They retooled at some point and went back to Leo's original specs which were apparently 1 3/4" and 1 1/2" with at 12" radius.

Well, I must say that, as much as I love my L2k #6 neck, the neck on the Stingray I'm trading is comfy, comfy! Hate to see her go, but there's another G&L in my immediate future!

1-5/8

1-5/8 (1.625) inch wide necks (at the nut) can be found standard on:

EBMM Bongo
EBMM Stingray
Current Fender Precision (US and Standard)
Spector
Many more basses I am sure.

A lot of old G&L's had necks in the 1-11/16 (1.687) range. I had a 1980 L1K with a neck at about 1.650. There was supposed to be a lot of hand finishing being done back then, so a bit of variation would not be suprising.

I doubt that G&L will ever offer 1-5/8 neck width, which is a shame as I consider it the perfect size. Four neck options are already more than most other manufacturers offer.
