ASAT BASS POTS & PUPS

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I just got an ASAT from some guy. I think it's almost 2 years old.

When I looked at the PUPs, there's some kinda embossed PAT. <Numbers>... on both of them at the single screw side. Do any of you guys have the same?

Also about the knobs, I noticed that the Bass Knob is easier to turn compared to the Volume and Treble. At first, I thought it was because the bass pot was used more than the rest but then on second thought, what could be used more often than the volume pot??

Anyway, I removed the knobs and found that all 3 pots are solid shaft pots, as expected, but the volume and treble pots have a copper like shaft and the bass pot has a steel colored shaft.

Any idea why the pots have different colored shaft? On the G&L Online Shop, only the steel colored shaft is available with 3 different impedances. Hence, I would think that impedance should not be the factor for the color difference.

So were the copper ones changed or vice versa?

Anyone got any idea? Anyone has the same experience?

Please advice

The bass pot is a different value than the other two. It should be a 1 meg pot wereas the treble and volume pots are 250K pots.

Could it be the reason that the color of the shaft of the pots are different?

No idea. They certainly could source them from different manufacturers. Someone with that year model would have to look at their's to see if it's the same.
