ASAT neck joints

I've seen ASAT models with both three and six-bolt neck joints. Is this a custom option, or did they change over the years?

With much pain, anguish, gnashing of teeth, and more than a few flames, G&L moved both the ASAT and SB-2 from 3 bolt to 6 two or three years ago.

Do not be afraid of the 3 bolt neck joint. Esp from G&L. Many of us have several old G&Ls in that variety, and they work great.
Good way to talk a salesman down a bit on price, tho.....

Never had any trouble with my 3-bolters. Always solid.

Just curious, getting a feel for the history of my new bass. Mine has the six-bolt, but I had seen a few threes as well.
