ASAT semi-hollow acoustic sound?

Sign in to disble this ad
Not that I'm planning on using an ASAT unplugged in an acoustic folk trio or anything... but I've been practicing a lot with my old Music Man while waiting for my L-2500 to show up. (3 weeks and counting) Rather than hook up my bass amp in the other room I'm usually playing at the dining room table, reading music. I'm probably hitting the strings harder than usual, in order to hear the notes.

So for those who have a semi-hollow ASAT, is the acoustic volume much louder than a regular solid-body bass? I don't expect it to be as loud as a true acoustic but somewhere between the two would be cool.

Or maybe I should just buy a cheapo practice amp.

Thanks for any responses!

then again if you were happy playing your MM unplugged then the SH ASAT should be a little louder than that so maybe you'd be fine. will you have a chance to try one out?

Probably not... The nearest dealer with any G&Ls in stock is 45 miles away. The nearest with an ASAT semi-hollow? Hmmm... maybe California?

I think the truth is I was looking for an extra justification to buy one of those pups cause I think they look so cool. Maybe someday.

The resonance is stronger with the semi hollow model , still not anywere near playing with an acoustic guitar though.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll need to find a dealer that has one in stock to see how it sounds.
