ASAT vs. ASAT Semi-hollow: tone differences

Sign in to disble this ad
G&L GAS rages on, and now has me eyeballing an ASAT semi-hollow. Can I expect the semi-hollow to have an obvious amount of traditional semi-hollow tone, or are they pretty close to the ASAT solid tone-wise? I'm espeically interested in hearing from those who have gigged both.

I've played both. IMO, the semihollow is not as aggressive in the mid punchy tone. But close enough for me in that the weight difference is significant on my back/shoulder.

Well, of the 3 semis that marched thru here, only one had any appreciable "hollow body" sound to it. In the others it was there, but barely noticable.

The chambers did'nt seem to do a whole lot on mine.

Oddly, two were kinda heavy.

Thanks for the input. So far the concensus here and elsewhere seems to be that they are pretty close tone-wise to the solid body ASAT.
