and a nice looking '81 natural L-1000 went for $1150 +35 last week about the same time one disapeared here on TB (I am not sure if it sold or was deleted - I remember thinking that the natural one sold for about 300 more than what his was offered for - I was going to try to contact him but it was gone)

there is a nice looking '92 on ebay now - is there much difference between old and newer L-1000's?

I'm betting some of that was the low ser # B000622, I was thinking about it, but the neck and truss rod issues that were talked about.......I've already have a 1980 neck thats trash, that should hold me over for now!
And the neck may be just fine, lets hope the person that won gets a good neck!!

I wouldn't have paid that much for it in that shape. The thing is trashed and completely filthy. I guess one man's trash is another man's treasure. I'm happy someone bought it. It makes me feel a lot better about what I gave for my mahogany/ebony version (a lot less). Mine is in amazing shape, compared to that one.

The '81 that sold for $1150 was in super condition with an original case. I'd have loved to buy that one.

I'm not sure if they changed the electronics in the newer versions. I know the pickup pole pieces are different.

Would love to have a L1000 and I saw this on evilbay. That one was really trashed and the seller even described the trouble with the neck, truss rod, etc.

Another one popped up and probably won't last long.

The natural ones always seem to sell well. One sold for $1350 a few weeks ago.

Not too surprised. People are paying a lot more for a road worn Fender. This one was the real deal for half the price.

I'd rock it.

That's a nice bass. Original case, too. Someone should snap this up! I would if I had the extra cash.

A bass THAT beat has gotta sound good.

I've recently latched onto a '80 and '81 L-1000, both 'hogany both with a fair amount (alot) of player wear - not quite as much as as the recent '80 but they both seem to stand apart from the rest, and I've never met a L-1000 that doesn't sound killer.

Since when does G&L document serial numbers, anyway?
