body wood for L2000 fretless

Sign in to disble this ad
i'm thinking about getting an L2000 fretless, and i was wondering what kind of body wood to look for. i need something light-weight (well, most G&L basses are pretty heavy, but something on the lighter side), but with decent tone. i play a mahogany L1000 fretless with an ebony fingerboard, and i like the warmth and the uniqueness of the "dark" sound, but i think i would like something a little brighter--but not too bright! maybe swamp ash? any suggestions?
