Buzz when touch the PU

G&L Tribute L2000

I never found this before, but today, I just 'felt' the noise is a bit louder than usual. So I changed another BASS, no noise. Definitely caused by the L2000.

It is simple: when you touch the string, it is very quiet. But lift then finger you will hear a very light hum from the amp.

I decide to investigate. Finally, I found that the pickup acts a bit funny today. When my finger was on the metal ring of the PU, the buzz was obvious. It can be louder with the pre-amp on, of course. But with my left hand touching the string, there was no noise any more even the PU was touched by right hand.

So, is it normal to hear some noise when the metal part of the PU was touched? I don't if it has problem or, I just never paid any attention on this.

Anyway, the open MFD PU from G&L is special, isn't it...
