I talked with my G&L dealer today, back in February I ordered a L2000 with a birdseye board. Well, like their website says it won't be available until sometime in the fall, they do have a few pieces in but it's not very figured and barely looks birdseye - so - rather than wait out any longer I just changed my order to a regular maple board. Oh well, I get the birdseye next time (and there will be a next time!!). Now I should have mine in sometime in late April/early May.

Flash99, qucik question - will G & L build a lighter weight bass if you specify it? I love the feel of their stuff, but I don't want to lug around 10 lbs for four sets. I'm specifically speaking about the L2500 series. Thanks!

You can request lightweight wood but it isn't guaranteed. However, it is rare for G&L to release something that is especially heavy these days. L2500's are generally on the lighter side because of the Tilia/Ash combo. While you probably won't get a 8lb bass, you won't get a 10lb bass.

I was all ready to throw down some $ on that redburst...until the "Check Engine" light came on in my car. Needless to say, a new bass is not in the cards for me now. In fact one will be hitting the classifieds soon.

Should've impulsively jumped on it 2 weeks ago. Oh well.

Talking

First of all... It's been a few months since I have hung out at Talkbass, and I had no idea that a G&L forum was started. WHOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!

Anyway, back to topic.

Two weeks ago, I ordered a L2.5K from BassNW. It will have a flame maple top with natural wood binding and a sunburst finish. The neck will be G.O.T. with matching sunburst headstock and a blank ebony fretless board.

I have been dreaming of this specific bass for over 4 years and I finally had the scratch. The anticipation will be agony, but the knowledge that the bass will be a reality is a bit of a salve.

I'm hoping it only takes the 4 months that G&L quoted Evan at BassNW, but I'm under no illusions.

Cheers,
Chris
