distorsion in passive amp input

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everybody, i readed somewhere in this forum that one L2500 could be plug into any bass amp input ( active or passive input). So yesterday night , for the first time i tried the passive input on my amp. My guit is a L2500 trib. and my amp is a H3500 hartke with a xL410 (4x10) cabinet. Assume that i had always plug it in the active input. But when practicing at good volume , i noticed that the sound made a big bad noise in the speakers like distorsion. so i repluged it in active input. Somebody had a kind of problem like that?
Thanks for answer
Francis

Were you running in passive? The pickups on the L-2500 are very hot, so running into a passive input may not be a good idea if your amp has both.

You should probably stay in the active input of your amp.

You read wrong. The rule is to always use the passive input as long as it doesn't make problems. Obviously, in your case it DOES make problems.

yeah, i retried this afternoon with my L2500 and still stay in active input and as loud as i can play it sound correct , so i always played my p bass with active pup and the result was good in passive input probably cause the output is a lot different from the L2500 one.
Certainly not a hartke input problem (thanks god). Some of you guys play Hartke amp? is there a forum and club for these amps?
Thanks
Francis
