Question E string clipping

Sign in to disble this ad
My E string has recently started to clip a bit when I pluck it strong. It seems limited to the E string and only when I use some gusto. It's not like I'm killing the string. This is a new phenomenon.

Anyone have any advice?

It looks like your E string is hitting the pole piece in one of the pickups thus producing unpleasant "pop" sound. Try adjusting the height of your pickups. It should solve the problem.

Good luck

Lower your pups and change your battery (if equipped with one)

If it's just the E-string, you may just need to raise that string, but I would suggest a complete setup. Your pickups have individually adjustable pole pieces as well, so make sure the ones under your E aren't adjusted higher than the others. It may also be your technique and you simply hit the E harder than you do other strings. The quick fix is going to be to simply lower your pickup height on the bass side though.
