Finding the spec from a serial number...

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm really keen to buy an L-2500 but I'd like to know a little about it's history first. The serial number is CLF25366, I've tried the 'registry' but it doesn't seem to be in there, can anyone help me find out what the spec is, when it was made etc?

Cheers

There is no way to gather any info from G&L based on serial number. The bass' build date is only slightly less cloudy, being based on date stamps on the neck butt and body pocket.

There is only one neck profile for G&L five string basses, so that's pretty nailed down except for fingerboard wood. If it's an older bass, the body wood will be tilia (basswood) with a standard finish or if capped, or it will be swamp ash. If it's a newer bass, the body wood will be alder for standard finishes or capped, or it will be swamp ash.

Hope this helps.

Ken...
