So, if you been payin attention over at the dudepit-which seems to be freakin' right now...(?), you know Bluesbassplayer beat me on the ebay auction for the '83 SB-2 with the bum neck. He decided it wasn't for him, we worked a deal, and it's now here in Columbia MO, wearing the fretless neck off my '81 L2Ke...which is wearing an 84 (?..I forget) fretted neck.
The L2Ke FL neck basically bolted right up. A little fooling with trussrod, micro-tilt, saddle height and intonation yields a *very nice* player that does what I'd hoped it would: ace out a 62 RI Jazz fretless.
I think the hot-rod red body, black bridge/pups/control plate, and dark ebony neck make a fine visual combination.
Flash on my camera wasn't working, dunno why, but, Pics:

Where do you find these extra necks? I'd love a Maple fretboarded SB-2 or L2500 neck to switch out at will! ( I realize that they are not all cookie-cutter perfect fits like yours, but I'm pretty good at making stuff like that work!)

Send some necks on over my way!

Karl

(by the way, nice looking bass!)

Congratulations! Looks good, probably sounds better. How'd you come across a FL neck? I've been looking for awhile for my L2K, no luck.

Greetings,

Nope, it's ASTRO BOY. I did think about Mighty Mouse though.

It came attached to my 1981 L2Ke, that I bought new in 1981. I always felt it was "kinda dark" compared to a fretted neck. When I came across a ~1984-ish fretted neck, I pulled the fretless one off. It's a nice sonic match for the SB-2...
