G&l l1000 : dual pick-up- active/passive?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone,

I am able to trade a G&L L1000 bass. The only thing about this bass is that instead of the one humbucker this bass has 2 humbuckers and it has an active/passive circuit instead of an passive. The head is the old "Fender alike" model and not the typical G&L model. I can't find anything about this particular bass on the internet. Can anyone of you tell me more about this bass? Whas it original build this way? What would be the "streetprice" of this bass?

Looks to me like an L-2000 with an L-1000 neck. But I don't know if there was any difference between those, other then the decal.

It would be interesting to check the neck and body dates on that bass. G&L date stamps the neck and body inside the joint. While the two dates are not likely to be the same, they would most likely be close if the bass came from the factory that way. From the pickups and controls, it appears to be an L-2000 which is an excellent bass. As far as I know there is no difference in the L-1000 and L-2000 necks other than the decal.

As far as price, some of the older G&Ls are hitting "vintage" status and value is improving somewhat. Are you looking to sell the instrument?

Yeah I think this is correct. Both neck and body are early 80s. Its a bit of a frankenstein but I might pay $500 for it, maybe a little more if its a nice player?
