G&L L2000 neck & string spacing

I'm curious as to how a G&L L2000 compares to say a MIA Vintage P-Bass neck? Is it more of a shallow C like the Vintage P-Bass? Or a bit thicker like the modern P-Bass? Or more of a baseball bat like a Warwick?

Also, can anyone tell me what the string spacing of the L2000 is at the bridge?

This would be on L2000s with the 1 3/4" nut width.

The "feel" of the G&L necks will vary a great deal (at least on the older used ones) as they were hand made and depended on the hands that were shaping them. I've had some that varied quite a bit. My favorite "era" for G&L bass necks is '83-'84, where they seem to be slightly fuller feeling rather than thin, but not "chunky", if that makes sense. My favorite is the one on my '84 L2K (in my avatar). It has the perfect feel to me, is 1 5/8" wide and the fretboard edges have a very nice rolled feeling.

When did G&L change their neck options. Currently they don't show a 1 5/8" nut width options for their basses: only 1 1/2" or 1 3/4".

What era do the 6 bolt necks belong to?

And what is the string spacing at the bridge on these?

Thanks for your help.

String spacing is identical to Fender at 3/4" between strings. I think the 6 bolt necks on the L2000 came about in the mid to late ninties but that's just a guess. I have a 98 3 bolt with a #8 (ASAT) neck and I think the 6 bolts were availabe then.

You are correct- the only current options are 1 1/2" and 1 3/4". As with most things G&L, there are no hard and fast dates when things have changed. Most changes have kind of taken a lot of time to transpire. I have no idea when different neck widths were offered and when they weren't but in the Leo years neck widths of 1 3/4", 1 5/8", and even 1 11/16" were built. I have a L-1000 that's 1 11/16".

edit to add the Leo era 2nd gen SB-2 also came with a 1 1/2" neck
