You'll only be able to get one via private party sale. G&L does not sell necks separately from bodies.

I'm waiting for the final verdict from my guitar tech...but if my neck turns out "dead", does that mean I'm screwed?

Try Warmoth if you need a new neck.

If you're the original owner and the bass is still in warranty, you should be working with G&L or an authorized G&L dealer. If this is the case, you'd be covered. If out of warranty, the bass can be repaired by G&L but it will be expensive. Of course, you can also have a good luthier make you a new neck to your specs.

I emailed G&L's repair service today. They do sell necks apart from bodies for about 400$. You get to choose between #5 and #7 neck profile with maple or rosewood fretboard.

No I'm not the original owner.

I've read an unsubstantiated report that G&L Tribute necks can be substituted for US G&L necks. I've successfully swapped Trib necks (L2K->JB2 and vice versa) but have not looked at swapping a Trib and US neck.

There can be bolt/screw pattern & number issues (3-bolt vs. 6-bolt vs. 4-bolt) requiring redrilling as well.

This is new. And you get a choice.

Did they happen to say how they'd handle, say, a #6 or #8 neck?

In light of them selling necks OTC, this wouldn't surprise me at all. At least for the current stuff. It's just a standardized CNC program.

I was told by a G&L dealer that you cannot interchange Trib and USA necks. But I don't know of anyone who tried it.

I guess they simply don't offer those apart from bodies, which sucks as I wouldn't mind swapping my #7 for something tinner...

Well I just called my tech and apparently he was able to fix my neck using a spacer (whatever that is) to adjust it. I just need to go there and try it now...hope I'll like it...

I'm just glad I won't have to spend hundreds on a new neck!
