Hi, first post. I'm struck by this instrument. Wondered what others think. Love this forum, by the way, very insightful. Thanks!

I saw that. If the cash was more disposable these days, I would bid on that one for sure. Love the Metallic Red.

Saw that one ... already has the tone pot mod and what looks to be an Ebony fretboard.
I vaguely recall seeing this one before somewhere, either on Ebay or Talkbass. It's close too, located in the town next to mine. Would ask to take a look if I did not already have an SB-2 I am very happy with.

Nice bass, and I love the Candy Apple Red.

Deffo a rosewood board, though.

I hate the candy apple, but I'll think about bidding on it and refinishing it.
It's got an entire day before the price shoots up.

I owned that one (did the control mod) and sold it to the guy selling it on ebay. It's a nice one - the CAR really glows/shines. It was the first CAR G&L I'd had and I really liked it. I only sold it to get a different SB-2 with a maple board (a preference thing).

I was considering bidding on it but can't right now. It's a good bass.

Thanks for the responses. I'm sitting here with my Blueburst Tribby L2000 enjoying a snow day and the fact my gigging amp is home for a change. Trying to ignore the GAS pains! ; - )

why not just wait for another one? there's not a huge shortage of SB-2s or anything, and it seems like a costly shame to refinish that sweet CAR (I just got a nearly identical SB-2 with a maple board and swapped out the picguard for pearloid. It's bitchen!)

If you got the one from Quad (which also passed through my hands, again no surprise to those who know me) I think it is a metallic burgundy and a bit darker red than the CAR one on ebay. It was also very light IIRC.

I love my SB-2.

I also love G&L's Candy Apple Red finish, which is definitely what this one is (as opposed to Red Metal Flake). Love their LPB too. I'm not sure anyone does bursts and metallic finishes better than G&L.

Good luck! There have been some sweet deals on these on the 'bay lately.

went for $500 shipped ... I appreciate more & more every day my great SB-2 that I scored for $480 a couple-three years ago.
