I was unaware that the Tribute SB-2 had been discontinued.

Anyhow, I have an Indonesian SB-2 and its quality is comparable to that of my Korean l-2500.

Lots of fun to play -- it will crush any P-bass in its price range.

SB2 Tribute, and JB2 Tribute were never available in the US, if I understand that correctly; they were made/sold in Japan.

Until now, with the Indonesian built ones.

There were Korean Tribute SB-2s available in the US when the Tribute line was first introduced here but they were discontinued (after the first year or so?) - I remember MF blowing them out at the end.

A handful of Korean Tribute JB-2s were made (maybe a dozen?) and they were all sold via BassNW. They were never produced in volume.

Now there are Indonesian Tribby SB-2s and JB-2s. I'm just bummed that there are no ash-bodied and/or maple-necked Tribute SB-2s in the lineup. The original Korean Tribute SB-2 models include both basswood & ash bodies and maple & rosewood fretboards (I have a Korean Tribute SB-2 with ash body and maple fretboard).

I don't know much about the original Japan-only Tribute line.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the "Tribute" is bigger than the G&L logo, then it's Korean. If the G&L logo is bigger then it's Indonesian. I think there were a lot of complaints about the Tribute part being so much larger and more emphasized. I'm glad they changed it because it'd sell better if the G&L logo were emphasized.

They're on the G&L website now. I would be seriously considering a black one if they weren't using basswood.
