Hey guys,
I'm a 'newb' to this forum, and only started to play bass a year ago. I am still using my first bass, a Stagg BC300, which is ok, but I'm craving something prettier
I had my eyes on a Rickenbacker, but didn't feel it would be versatile enough, so I finally gave in and felt I should follow the crowd and get myself a Fender, as a Stingray seemed a bit pricey.
Then I stumbled upon this 'G&L' thing...
I had never heard of it until 20 minutes ago
Anyway, I have checked out the website, and can't find any pricing, but saw someone mention $600 somewhere in this forum
Any chance of a summary about these basses, from the look of it they have insane tone control, but are they mega expensive? I looked through the list of artists that use it, and was impressed so they can't be all bad... DETAILS!
I'm off to bed now so I won't be able to thank you for all the helpful responses
so.. Thanks in advance!!
Edit: oh and, a recommendation on the 'best' model would be handy. |

Same basic electronics as the US-made, but the bodies are MIK or Indonesia, IIRC.
Go for around $600 on MF.

I'm sure either model, the four or five string, will suit your needs for a "very long" time.

Does the difference in body and whatever else between the tribute and American, make a big difference? | If you get one of the clear finishes (burst) then the body will be Ash. If you get a solid color the body will be basswood. |

And, sorry to be asking so much, but I want to be sure of this , any dealers in the UK :S the site only mentions one, and it's not exactly got an informative website... Maybe I could order from the US? |

Maybe I could order from the US? | I was referring to the Tribute line. Basically, if you can see the wood grain through the finish, they are using Ash. If it's a solid color then they use the less attractive basswood.
For the US made ones, there are burst finishes that are not premium finishes. Here's a link to the G&L site. Just click on "finishes": http://www.glguitars.com/
If you click on "instruments" you can go to the lower right side of the page and click on the "Tribute" logo and get info about that line. |

And no, I have failed to score the cash so far saw a tribute in adtrader for £250, but I'm unsure of the value considering it's used.
Where about's are you then? PM me if you trust me |
