Great day!!! Getting my lefty L-1000 back

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys,
I had to tell someone. I foolishly sold this bass about 2 years ago and have regretted it ever since. I have been in contact with the guy I sold it to and he's willing to sell it back to me. I think it's the most beautiful bass I've ever seen. The reason I sold it is I'm not very good on a fretless but I'm going to find a fretted neck for it. Any ideas where I can pick one up? Here's some pics..

Thanks,
Rick

No doubt about it: that's my favorite G&L color scheme.
Those early tobacco-burst mahogany basses are nice!

You could get someone like Micheal Dolan to fret your current neck...that's a nicely figured bit of ebony there.

Thanks Chef. The bass sounds fantastic too. It seems wrong for some reason to fret this neck but that's what I might do...

Every once and a while, you'll see a three bolt neck on ebay.

I have a fretless 1981 L2000E that I got lucky and scored a second neck for; but, it took a long time.

I've had really good luck moving three bolt necks from bass to bass as well.

Is that a factory stock fretless lefty?! Damn, that is super rare. I'd love to find an early lefty G&L some day.

Thanks guys. Yes, it's a factory fretless and rare. I used to be the biggest (lefty) G&L fan in the world and I've never seen another one. As a matter of fact, I don't recall seeing any other lefty G&L bass with the old style headstock. It's going to compliment my Hofner Club bass very nicely!
Regards,
Rick
