Help! Coming back to the G&L

So I started my bass buying binge with an L2000 which I LOVED but returned it because I wanted a 5 string and the neck was a bit too big. Then I moved on to a SR5 - but after 3 days with it I returned it because it doesn't sound nearly as good as the L2000. Now I've got a Bongo 5 on the way - but my guess is that won't do the trick either.

I'm thinking the L2500 is the way to go but I haven't seen any used ones around lately and don't want to spend all that money for a new one. Thinking about getting a Tribute L2500. Help me figure this one out before I blow another $30 in shipping fees returning yet another bass!

Its tough because I love the G&L's but there are no local dealers so I can't try the L2500 out.How does the Tribute L2500 compare? It looks like it has the same electronics - I would get the premium finish on it.

Most people I've read that has tried both think they are very similar, with minor fit-n-finish differences. Sounds are almost identical, but necks may be different. The Bongo may surprise you, though. I've heard great reviews on them.

The Tribby will have smaller frets and lower quality tuners than the USA 2K you had. The sound will be similar since the 2500 is nothing more than a 5 string 2K.
The SR5 is not a true 5 string Stingray it more like a 5 string Sterling.

I told you Johnny if the MFD sound tripped your trigger nothing else is going to fill that niche. G&L and EBMM basses are quite unique and while both great, they are quite different.

The core sound of a Bongo doesn't cut it for me. I can EQ it 9 ways to Sunday but the fundamental tone isn't what I am looking for.

There are several US made 2500s on eBay right now!

The dual humbucker bongo is a pretty nice bass, if I could've found one with a Piezo I may have bought it.
