Help me identify this body wood

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi There:

I am the new proud owner of an amazing G&L L2000, I have been totally blown away by the quality, playability and sound of this beautiful instrument. However, I have a question about the body wood of the instrument and need advice from the knowledgeable TB G&L crew. When I bought this bass the dealer said it was swamp ash, I own several swamp ash basses and the grain (patterns) of my new L2000 does not look like swamp ash to me (it seems to be alder since it matches the grain of my alder basses). Please let me know your opinion (the bass sounds awesome regardless of the body wood, just want to know if my judgment is right).

Thanks: George

Too smooth for swamp ash. I'll go with alder.
