Hipshot D-Tuner for a Tribute

Sign in to disble this ad
I just installed a Hipshot D-tuner on my Tribute JB-2. I ended up needing some help because it was actually a tuner for a USA G&L instead of a Tribute. Some things had to be swapped and moved, but it fits just fine and works perfectly. I justwanted to warn folks that a MIA Hipshot D-Tuner is not a direct fit for a Tribute JB-2 or SB-2. I'll get some photos for you guys in a few days. That D-Tuner has made my little JB-2 perfect. It is as sweet a Jazz as I have ever played.

I am assuming that you installed a Hipshot BT-1, which is what they list as being the G&L variant. I've gotten lazy and haven't gotten one for my Tribby JB-2, despite wanting to, so I am keenly interested in what you had to do to make it work.

I had to take out that inner steel mount, the rubber mount, and a small washer to make it flush. It works fine now.

Oh, come on now, surely it can't be that hard?

How is the height of the clover leaf off the top edge of the headstock?

I got the TB-1 and installed it on my US ASAT bass. It bolted on fine, but the length of the shaft on the clover leaf was slightly longer than the stock tuners.

Come to thing of it, I think the tip where the string goes is a little different in style too.

I just finished installing a BT1 detuner on my Tribute L2000, and it fit perfectly and easily. I am addicted to these detuners, so I got to have them on every bass I have, hehe.

so the Hipshot BT1 D-Tuner is the one I'd want to put on my USA L2000, right?

I bought a new one on ebay for $59 a few days ago, but they usually are around $65 or so. $63 isnt a bad deal.

I got hold of a Tribute JB-2 yesterday. Sweet machine!

It's forcing me to clean up my technique a bit too — there's nowhere to hide on this baby!
