Question Hot Deal? Parts?

Sign in to disble this ad
I found this ad on craigslist. Can you get the parts to put it back together from G&L? Is it worth it?

The deal finder in me wants to think so, but the other side of me says watch out?

Thoughts?

Nope, waste of money. Bridge runs $60, preamp?, pickups $99 each.

$260+ in parts and the $150. You could score a complete Tribby for less.

However to build a pickup tester by installing a bridge and routing the snot out of the center to make a test plank? Sure.

May be worth $150 for the neck though. You can't get a replacement Tribby neck.

$.02

Wonder what he built?

It looks to be a Tribute L-2000. You can order the parts from G&L. The bridge will run $59.95 and the pickups are $119.95 each. Adding these parts alone, you are up to nearly $450(if you paid the $150 asking price). You can go out and buy a new Tribute for this amount of money(and we haven't even gotten to the preamp, pots, etc.). Sounds like a non-deal to me.

Isn't it sacrilege to take MFD's off a G&L.

No. Putting something else in place of MFDs is.

+1. If for some reason I ever decided to do a custom, I'd spec MFDs.
