Thumbs up How long is my L2000's scale? Do I need extra long strings?

Hey all,

Could you please inform me if I need extra long strings for my L2000?
I'm looking at the D'Addario EXL170, do I need the EXL170SL or would the EXL170S do? How long is the scale of an L2000?
It's frustrating that G&L basses don't come with a manual or any thing at all! And there's hardly any technical info on the G&L website.
Besides the D'Addario, which other strings do you recommend? I'm not spending $30 plus on DR strings.
Thanks a lot!

34" scale and any string for those will fit easily. .045-.105 drop right on.

I have run TI Superalloys, D'Addario XL, and Dean Markley with no problems. I really prefer the TI Superalloys over anything else.

Smile Thanks!

Hey Jim, thank a lot.
I don't know if it makes any difference, my L20000 is a Tribute.
I may try the TI Superalloys next - quite a few people have mentioned it.
I'm on a budget this time.

Thanks again!

If you string thru the body, I believe you'll want strings "rated for a 35" scale" to cover the extra length involved with doing that.
However, don't string a tribute through the bridge...
2500 bridge pulls off the body, what now?

I personally prefer DA EXL170's.

You mean, stringing through the body, right Chef? At least I hope so since every bass strings through the bridge unless I'm misinterpreting something. I don't think he has to worry about stringing through the body if it's an L-2000, but yeah. Usually it's good idea to go longer on a string through body. My first bass was an ESP LTD B-205 that was string through body and I was pissed when the B on the new set of D'Addario strings wasn't long enough.

EDIT: Nevermind. You do mean string through the bridge, but he's gonna have to do that on an L-2000 since it isn't a string through body AFAIK.
