I have a jones for the tribute l2000 but the only thing i'm not sure about is the neck. i switched to jazz size necks because the bigger necks were hurting my hands. i see the tribby l2000 neck is 1.75 at the nut. any owners willing to comment?
thanks! |

Picked up a USA L-2000 with a #8 neck (1.5" at the nut) and could not be happier. With the skinnier neck the L-2000 is the most ergonomically correct bass for me that I have found yet.

yep, i think i may either go with a jb2 or get the l2000 and get the neck slimmed down. there are some fine luthiers in my town. the only thing about the jb2 would be the single coil thing-i have heard rave reviews about the tone so i don't know if i'd want to replace them.... |

I've had 2 and while they were both impeccably crafted - they just didn't have 'it' goin' on. An SB-2 I had did. I've had a number of L2K, USA and Trib. The Trib does - it's on it;s way to Norway and an L2500 is on it's way here.
Yeah - the Trib L2K neck is pretty big but for some reason I fond it comfortable - and I'm a J guy ... Partly it's because I play the Trib in a rock band setting and I tend not to play as much. More emphasis on my picking and rhythm in that setting. My roots rock trio setting has nme a busier player. The guitarist is hte lead singer and he's got his hands full so I'm a lot more active melodically there. In that setting a J neck or my Reverened is my weapon of choice.

Don't forget the Trib SB-2 has the jazz sized neck and people rave about it's sound.

It is 1.75" at the nut but the neck profile is fairly thin. It isn't like any of the Precision bass necks I've played wich are both wide and thick. I am a five-string player, though, so I'm comfortable with wider necks. |

I played a '92 USA l2000 today at a shop and it was great--i opened the back up to see the electronics and WOW! i can't believe all the stuff that is going on in there! |

PS-do the US #8 necks fit the Tribute...and if so, can they be had?

It felt almost just like my 2004 American Series Precision, which has a 1 5/8" nut. I found it very comfortable, and was surprised when I visited the site to see the 1.75" spec. Guess they have it wrong.

| | | | I love the nut size on my L2000 Trib, my long fingers have a much better time on it's 1 5/8 nut neck than on my 1.5 nut Highway 1 jazz.
I saw a couple of used japanese made ASAT tributes up for sale a little while ago, here in Denmark. They're essentially L2000s with a tele body and 1.5 at nut neck, so its a pitty those arent in production |
