How's the B string on the L2500 tributes?

Does the B string sound like it belongs together with the other 4 strings? (some fivers sound like a four string with an added B string who doesn't really belong there... I don't need that! I don't want to be afraid to use it...)
Is it hit or mis? Can I order one blind?
Do you string through the body? Which strings are long enough?

Are they heavy basses?

Thanks people

I would love the L2500 tribby, with the black basswood body and maple FB

B string

Its not as tight as the other strings but I wonder if my cab (Hartke 4x10 VX ) can handle such a low tone. It is a little heavy but not bad, has good balance. After having it set-up and a bone nut put on it I love it.

I string thru the body and use SIT strings. On their site they have some noted for the G&l.

My Tribute 2500 Premium has got an amazing B-string. It sounds very tight and has great sustain. Even the sound on the neck pickup is tight and usefull. I have played a stingray5 for years but like the 2500 more. This bass is more versatile, feels better to the body and fits better into the mix. The stingray sounds really great on the low notes but lacks on the high ones.

My G&L (ash/maple) weighs 4,5 kg but feels lighter.

My Korean Tribute L-2500 weighs 9 lbs. With Ernie Ball regular slinkies, the strings sound a bit bright but all like one bass.

Right now, I have D'Addario strings (need the super long version) and the B string doesn't sound as well defined, but the whole set has more body than the EBs.

Oh, and a friend just bought a new Indonesian L-2500 and it had a great setup right out of the gigbag.

This is the first bass where I've actually used the controls for different sounds at the same gig...usually I let the fingers do that job.

yeah, I don't like D'addario B strings, they really sound like they don't belong with the rest of the strings...

As for the D'Addario B-sting. I like the .130. It is stiff, so you have to push it down a bit after the saddle. If you do it right you get a great sounding B-string. It is even more important if you string it through the body. From all strings I have tried I like the D'Addarios XL the most.
