I made a move with my neck

Yesterday I brought my L2k into the dealer where I bought it from and I ordered a new #8 neck with a rosewood fingerboard to be installed by them(G and L). The good news is, I will be getting the old neck back with the bass. Should take 4 to 6 weeks.

I was playing a JB2 in his shop yesterday with a # 8 neck and it felt sooooo much better. I just hope I like it. The old neck had a glossy finish over Gun Oil Tint and the new one will be simply a satin finish with no tint. The head stock will be bare.

ive got an l2k w/ a #8 maple neck. It is unfinished (unglossy) and is the best neck i have ever played. I absolutely love the way it feels.

I had just the opposite feeling about the G&L necks, the first few G&L's I purchased all had the Satin finish on the neck and I thought they where great (and they are). Then I bought my G&L ASAT bass and it came with the G.O.T. neck treatment and I felt that was far superior to the satin finish.
So now I have a split hurd!
My L-2500 and SB-2 have a satin finish and my SB-2 fretless and ASAT have the G.O.T. finish.....I love them all

Same story for me. To be accurate, it's a satin finish, not unfinished. I have never played a neck I've liked as much. Jazz sized but with a tiny bit more beef that keeps my hand more comfortable than a standard Jazz bass neck. Mine also feels like it's made from granite. It is the stiffest jazz sized neck I've ever tried.

A few minutes spent with 1,000-grit wet/dry sandpaper will turn any gloss neck into a satin. You can always buff it back out, but I never do. And yes, it does take awhile to build up the courage to actually take sandpaper to a G & L neck.
