I sold my G&L L-2000 awhile back and, after a series of other basses, I realize that I should have just kept it. After going through a few, I ended up with a p-bass. While pondering what I would change about the p-bass... I realized I just wanted it to sound like my G&L.

Well, I really don't have the money to splurge on a brand new L-2000 and I'm too picky a bastard to sit around and wait for the only color/fretboard I want to pop up used on E-bay (blueburst, rosewood), so i was looking at the Tributes.

My question is: After playing an MIA for about 2 years, will I feel like I stepped down much with the Tribute?

I have a US ASAT and JB-2. The other day I tried a Tribute SB-2 and I can tell you that I was very impressed with the workmanship, tone, everything. Give one a try, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

There's like two used of the blueburst/rosewood combos on eBay right now...

Did you see Ed Friedland's review of the Tribute L2000?

I have a tribute L2000 I keep as my back-up. I bring it to every gig, but my #1 is an L1000 so it never makes it out of the bag. Every once in awhile I take it out at home, and I am always amazed at the workmanship and feel of the bass. One thing I really like about it is the satin finish on the neck. It's very fast and smooth. As far as sound goes.. it sounds like an L2000. You really can't go wrong with the Tributes. They are a steal for the price.

I've had MIA and Trib L2K's. the Trib neck actaully was the better feel. Primarily due to the fretwire selection I think. I have a Trib L2.5K and it's a great bass.

I like having as broad a spectrum of tones to play with as possible. So the Trib sounds as good, plays as good and frees up the capital for more basses or studio toys ...
