Interchangeable necks?

Sign in to disble this ad
Assume a 6-bolt L2000 and a 6-bolt JB-2, both with the 1.5"nut/12"radius neck...How interchangeable would these likely be in practice?

That's called a #8 neck. As far as I know they only have one 6 bolt pattern.

Theres a good chance they will fit- the neck pocket might not be perfectly snug, and you'll likely have to adjust action/ intonation and possibly have to add a little shim in the neck pocket to get adequate adjustment out of the bridge. Its also possible you wouldn't have to do much adjustment at all. The third possibility is that it wouldn't work (even newer 6 bolt necks were somewhat handmade up until recently). I would make sure to measure the width of the heel on both necks before trying anything else to see if they are a decent match.
