I don't know if it has been ever asked here, but if James Jamerson were buying a G&L what model would he buy? |

Current issue: SB2 is close,
older, the L100 is prolly closer.

After he moved to L.A. along with the Mowtown operation, he is reported to have lost session dates due to his refusal to switch to round-wound strings. Such a mindset would not switch instruments without a fight. Were he still alive today, I'd be willing to pay money to see him play that P-bass strung with flats.

He'd be playing a custom made in the style of the LB-100, one of the few G&L signature models. |

I respect that man's playing & ear so, so much. He was always....perfect.

| | | | I don't know what James would do, he was apparently pretty set in his ways as to strings, set-up, etc. He came from playing upright before he defined bass guitar.
But thinking about Jamerson lines as played on an L2K (or better yet, the magnifico ASAT!!) would be a thing of beauty to hear with the tone for days of the MFD's...
And through a B-15 in the studio....
Wow.What a concept. |
