JB-2: Man, what a nice bass!

I recently picked up a used JB-2 from the good folks at Bass Northwest. This instrument is light and feels great. Very fine fit and finish. Love the smooth feel of the bridge. Truss rod is very responsive as I am trying different strings and setups.

I'd forgotten how many great tones are available on a passive J just by blending pups. Neck pu is deep, round and rubbery; bridge pu is rude-growly--maybe too much for me. Seemed a little brittle on the high end at home, but on the gigs, with everything full up, its right there.

This was going to be a backup/spare, but I think it is going to get some serious playing time.

I'm right with you, man. I got my JB-2 Tribby as a backup, and it's become the first thing that I grab for many things. Gotta get me a US-made JB-2.

+1. I also have a JB2 Trib. and was amazed at it's tone. I also have a Trib L 2000. It's difficult to say which I prefer. Also +1 on getting a USA JB 2.
