So it's my first 'real' bass. And it is awesome ! I followed some advice on here and found the sweet spot about 80% front pickup, 40% rear pickup. Then if I want to take out the brightness I just cut back the front pickup a little. My peavey had a three band active EQ, but so far I certainly don't miss it. Thanks G&L, thanks for the advice from this forum, and thank you Leo, wherever you are.

p.s.- no disrespect to Peavey meant, I love their stuff, and I'm sure their higher end American made basses are great.
Haaaaa really nice one. I've got an LB-100 in that exact same color + pickguard! Excellent choice!

with a pearloid pg now...

yeah, there's something very special about that finish. I've never really cared about finish before. As long as it wasn't pink or something, I could of cared less. But I really, really dig the goldflake. How do you like the alnico pickup's ?? The SB-1's and SB-2's have an MFD P-style pickup, an it is the **** for what I want to do. Even though the action on this bass is f'd up I still am playing it most of the time just cuz it sounds so good. I can't wait for the other neck to get here.

I love the pup in the LB-100... Less hot than my L-2000 but it shines with my tube amp.

I think 4-strings on a skunk would sound good through a Trace V8.

Just stopped by my local G&L dealer and inquired about an SB-2. Would have to order one and it would be about 10 weeks. Hmm . . . what color? Rosewood or maple? Decisions, decisions . . .

I have a #8 neck on my ASAT and I like that. I don't have any maple fb basses. My JB-2 is honey colored. There was a nice honey burst L25k at the dealer today. It's a nice color. I kind of like the baby blue or cobalt blue, or gold, or belair green,
or . . .

I'm very partial to the rarely seen redburst (with a black or black tort pickguard that'd be sweet), but pretty much all the burst finishes are nice.

I think it's too bad they don't have black hardware available...
My SB-2 would be
maple fb (standard neck)
2 tone sunburst
singleply black pickguard
and black hardware.
