I just got a Trib L2500 today for $550. Not a bad deal, considering it was new, and I'm in Canada (impossible to find G&L Stuff up here).
I was really excited to try it out at home with my own amp. But...
When I got home, I played it for a while, and really couldn't connect with it. It was a great bass. Good fit and finish, good tonal variety, but I just couldn't connect with it.
It seemed a bit odd, but maybe it's because I've been playing my own special 4-stringer for so long. Maybe that, or my 2 other basses already provide me with quite a large tonal variety. Or maybe it was the B-string which I still have yet to find use for... Not sure why, but it's really not "clicking."
Strange too, since my 2 other basses that I absolutely love are both cheapies. I picked them up, and never let them go.
I really want to like the L2500 too, but it's just not really working... Maybe I'll play with it some more before I decide whether or not to return it.
Anyone else with similar experiences? |

If you can afford to hold on to it a little longer, please do. Try it out on a gig or rehearsal. One tip: roll back the volume a little. Those pickups are very hot, and that way you can compensate more easily for diferences in volume between different switch settings.
Good luck!

I had an Trib L2K and absolutely loved it. The obvious choice for a fiver was the Trib L2.5K, so I went to a local store and tried one out. Sunburst with maple neck. Just hated it.
Left the store thinking, "Never will I spend money on that." Bought my TBC fiver and really started getting into playing it and thought, "Maybe I should try the G&L again."
Went to a different dealer, picked up a natural/rosewood Trib (same as my four string) and thought "Where have you been all my life?"
Sold my L2K and bought the L25k and couldn't be happier. Go-to bass now.
The strange thing is, I still don't like the maple neck Trib L2.5K. No idea why. Just feels different to me and I know there is no logical reason why it should.

Anyone else with similar experiences? | Er, no, not me. I bought my L2500 sight unseen as a backup for my L2000. Now it's my main bass and my L2000 is hardly played anymore.
Best 5-holer I've ever played with the widest variety of tones I could ask for.

I got my L2.5K in September of 07 and have played my L2.K only once in church since then. The 2K is a keeper however. I pull it out once in a while and it's like taking a little sports car out for a spin! Quote:

| | | | I can probably hold it for a bit longer, since I think there's a 30 day return policy or something like that.
I've got a practise coming up pretty soon so maybe I'll try it out there. Hopefully, it'll work out well, since I really like the bass itself (Natural with Rosewood). |

Take 2 or 3 month for my brain (and my hands also) to do the moove from 4 to 5 and since that 2.5 beast is my first to go bass for any gig.

| | | | if anyone's looking for a super MIK Tribute L-2500 (Amber), let me know ... I found a nice MIK L-2000 and am probably more of a 4 string guy so can let the L-2500 go.
thx,
