I will admit, I have no real experience with G&L Basses...other than picking them up in the music store and noodling around a bit...but this Bass just some how spoke to me...without even ever playing it!
I have been a Spector guy for a long time now, but I've wanted to try a more traditional style instrument for a while...I'm really hoping I fall in love with this bass, from a feel, tonal and playability perspective, as much as I have fallen in love with the way it looks... |
I bought my L2500 before actually ever playing one. It's actually now my main bass and my L2000 is pretty much going into the case....
Mine is fretless and has flats on it, but even with all that it's still got a lot of heft to it. The bridge PU alone gives a very agressive "pop" to the notes, a kind of fat version of a fender jazz on just the bridge PU. Both pickups on and it's one of the best metal basses you could ever want.
Neck PU only gives a very close rendition of the fender precision tone which you can use for more traditional stuff that requires a traditional P bass like sound.
So I love mine, so much so it's now my main instrument. Wish I had another one!
