L-1500 Picks Up Radio Signals. Help.

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a recently purchased L-1500 that is picking up, pretty clearly, radio signals.

This only happens (99% sure) in the active mode.

None of my other basses does this, so I don't think it is the amp or cables.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Open up the control cavity and see if it's shielded (it will look like the inside of the cavity is painted a dark gray). If it isn't, you need to get it shielded. If it is, you need to have the back of the control cavity cover shielded and grounded to the shielding in the cavity (you can use copper foil for this).

I bought a better cable tonight, and playing it, I couldn't hear the radio signal.

Could changing cables make a difference? The old cable was an Ernie Ball with one right angle connection and one straight, which should be a pretty good cable. The new cable is a Planet Waves.

Yes.

I have too many basses and not enough space. I really like the L-1500, but my Bongo covers some of the same ground, and is lighter by about a pound.

By the way, it was the Ernie Ball cable, in combination with the bass, that picked up radio signals. No other cable/bass combo picks up radio.

Why is this?
