Rocker Guitars in SF was having a blow-out sale and I just happened upon a 2004 NAMM trans-orange L1500 that been hangin' on the wall lo' these last 4 years. Now its'a hangin' on my wall and so far, I couldn't be happier ! # 8 neck (1.5" width, 12 radius) and about 8.2 lbs....dreamy.

Congrats! That looks like a mighty sweet 1500. It will rock the house.

Thanks ! I've been playing it all day and am really surprised at the sound. Quite a different beast than either the L2000 or L1000. Its definitely got that aggressive MFD, with more....growl ?? Anyway...this thing is definitely gonna be a bass that is heard in the mix ! Can't wait for rehearsal....

Very nice!

I must say that even though I ended up with a L2000 that a 1500 is still on my GAS list. I can't believe all the versatility from one pickup! Now if it only had one knob.

They didn't happen to have a pau ferro fretless version of that same bass anywhere did they?

I've got an L2000 but would love a 1500 for a more musicman type tone with the strategically placed single pickup....

Guess I should start making some calls about ordering one before the money disappears into the car or bills or something

No way, I have proof . My L2000 is a pao ferro fretless with ebony fingerboard.

There've been a couple here and there on ebay but those have had the "P bass" style neck which is thicker than I want.

I've been shopping for another L2000 exactly like mine as a backup but I'm sort of thinking about the 1500 instead due to the pickup placement.
I've played a MusicMan Sterling and its got its pickup in the same spot. I like the playability and tone of that PU position.

As I think the G&L is a little bit better of a bass, I'd like to find such a 1500.

Looks like I may have to actually order one as ones like mine are pretty hard to find....

Er, I think I'm misusing "pao ferro". I think that refers to a type of wood? I thought pao ferro meant blank with no fretlines or inlays...

Anyway, that's what I mean... I should just say "unlined" instead

Its got the gun oil tint neck (GNT ?) . It's actually so deadly that I had to tame her a bit. Did the tone mode that replaces a resistor in the preamp to tame some of the zing in active treble boost mode. Stock, it was like shootin' a laser.

OMG, if I found a unlined fretless L1500 I'd die. I'd settle for Ebony, though.
