L-2000 Neck/Nut Question.

Can someone tell me why G&L built the L-2000 with such a wide nut profile, deep neck and relatively flat radius?

I don't know, but I sure wish they would have put a jazz 1-1/2 at the nut, neck on my L-2000 Tribute. I'm used to a jazz neck and it's very uncomfortable when I'm playing. Somebody needs to complain to G&L about offering more neck options on their basses. IN MY MOST HUMBLE OPINION!!!!!!!! DAMMIT.

drumbook,

They did it to appeal to traditional P-bass players. I didn't like the neck on my L2k. Then I started gigging with it & I do like it now. I still prefer my ASAT and especially my thinner SB-2, but the L2k has a very nice neck. You can always option the L2k with the thinner neck.

Yes, it is kinda different at 1 3/4... My other basses in the past including my Tobias back up have been 1 1/2. The L2K takes some getting used to. If it wasn't for the great tone and awesome looks, I probably would have opted for the ASAT. Still may in the end. I can see the relationship to the P-Bass in the neck. It's all technique though.......

Stock a 2K has a 1 3/4 but can be ordered with a 1 1/2. Many folks prefer that and actually in the old days they were 1 5/8.

Many of us want them to offer the 1 5/8 again.

Tribby 2Ks are always 1 3/4.

I don't suppose G&L offers a 1 1/2 neck to fit the tribby, do they? I sure would like a smaller width neck.

The fewer options I guess make the Tribby's cheaper to produce so they can be bought as such a bang for buck. The tribby SB-2 and JB-2 have the skinny necks.

If you love the sound then you get a USA all pimped out. Dang pushers!

Yes, "somebody" needs to complain about this!

Like a wise man once told me - "Wish in one hand, and then poop in the other.See which one fills up first."
I put a tooth under my pillow and made a wish a long time ago and I didn't get poop, or anthing else for that matter. I still want the skinny neck though.

My USA has a #6 neck, and while I like the smaller nut, the radius feels really round. I think the flatter #8 neck would serve me better, but beggars can't be choosers.

1 5/8" is a great width for a neck. I believe my Rick is about that, and the neck is a little flatter. Plays really well. I'd go for a 1 5/8" if possible.
