L-2000 Sound Clips?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I'm putting it here anyways.

Anyone know where to get some decent sound clips of an l2k, preferably in the mix? G&L's website isn't really very helpful, i.e. not everybody's a slapper.

I'm considering a Tribute model, and I wanna hear everything I possibly can before pulling the trigger.

Thanks,
Brent

For slap (since I think it's what you're asking), check out the first song, "Make it Alright" on my profile, here:

www.myspace.com/bassbyeric

I recorded it direct with a 1986 G&L L2000, in the early '90s. For the record, two of the other songs, "One Second", and "Come Over Here", were recorded direct with the L2K, two years ago.

Well, there you go.

Both pups, series, bass and treble slightly rolled off if I remember correctly (this is my "normal" setup):

Bridge pup only:

Both recorded through a pandora straight to the PC, strings original but not particularly new on either, can't find one with the neck pup only, sorry.

Sorry I wasn't too clear about my original post (please note the time). I wasn't really looking for slap sounds, I kinda wanna hear some regular fingerstyle, and maybe a little bit of pick stuff. Of course, I'll take any samples I can get.

Thanks though, I'll still listen to what you guys have posted. Who knows, it might just convince me to be the next Wooten...

Yeah right...

The Dutch G&L importer has a site (www.jic.nl) with a nice demonstration of the ASAT/L-2000 sounds. Just click 'Merken', then 'G&L', then 'HIER voor de bassen' and then 'Tri-Tone bass electronica'. Finally click a few times on the green arrow till you see the switches with numbers. Nevermind all the Dutch gibberish; when you flip the virtual switches you get some idea of the sounds you can make.

Eric,

Was that slap part in parallel mode? Great groove and old-school vibe!

Thanks. Everything was full-on for that track. Tones all the way up, pre-amp and boost on, both pickups and both rows on. I suppose that's parallel mode.

For a good example of G & L's snarling grind, listen to Everclear's earlier stuff. Craig Montoya pounded an ASAT through a Boogie 400+. Hmmmm....that combo sounds familiar to me.

Also, Silverchair's Chris Joannou gets some nasty grind out of his L2000.
