Sign in to disble this ad
I did a search but was unsuccessful with it. Just curious if there are any other G&L bass owners that have swapped out an L-series neck (I have a L-1000E) and put it on an LB body? I love my L-series maple neck but I want to make a P bass or PJ bass with it... Or, has anyone put their G&L 3-bolt neck on a Warmoth body, etc?.... If so, pics are always good.

Realllllly?
I want pics of the battery cavity.
I've had fair enough luck swapping G&L 3 bolt necks from one bass to another.
Fenders/Warmoth have different neck pockets.
It'sa no-go.

It'sa no-go. | Yeah, I'll take some pics and post em' soon. If I find the right body for the neck then I will likely sell the modded L1000 body with the pups in it and the original knobs. I'll take the Ken Smith pre out and keep the bridge to go with the neck. I found an older LB100 at a small mom & pop shop close to where I live. Just don't know if the neck pockets are the same...but I think they are... The bass is $599.00 and it's pretty clean. I just may have to jump on that.

I have a spare neck waiting for such a thing...
I think the neck will swap if they're both the same bolt pattern; maybe even if they're not. But, they should be.

Whoops sorry for the hijack, dont have any info on your neck question. |

You'll almost certainly need to drill new holes for the bolts at the very least. That said, I put an L5500 neck on my old L2500 with no modifications whatsoever to the neck- I did have to push the bridge saddles almost as far back as they could go though to get proper intonation with the new neck (the neck heel was about 1/4" shorter than the original neck)...

Whoops sorry for the hijack, dont have any info on your neck question. | nah, my L-1000E is pretty modded but done by a great luthier in Oregon named Steve Spalding who did the other pickup route/9v route, the Ken Smith preamp and the fret job with vintage size frets installed. Then a few other friends I have that are luthiers that did the pickguard and satin finish on the neck. So it's got a small 9v route in the back of the body for the Ken Smith pre. I am keeping the neck and will be putting in on some kind of p-bass body (p or pj route).

So, I just have a older L-1000 but no "E".. Still older though and lawsuit headstock. Debating on whether or not I want to keep the neck/sell the body or what.. Love the neck way more than the L-series body. It a good chunk of ash on the body which makes my bass approx 10 lbs. I still have to post pics of my bass, keep forgettin'.

I just got done putting an early old school neck on my newer pointy headstock climax, cause I wasn't digging the skinny J type neck. It went right on, no worries.
