L1000 sound

Having never played an L1000, how would you folks say they sound compared to my L2500 (or an L2000) on the front pickup in passive mode?
I know there's differences in the circuitry, correct? The pickup position looks about the same. (just curious---I've just started gassing for an L1000 for some reason--I love that clean, one-pickup look on any bass).

Pickup placement is the same as the L2K neck pickup.

I have two older L2000 series E, one brand new L2000, and a 1998 L2500.
I have 3 L1000's; one 1980, and two 1981's.

All 3 1000's do indeed sound different to me than any of the L2X00's in passive mode.
Brighter-tho the L2k's can get sorta get that in active mode.

this would be nice, since i could get a l1000 from 83, which is pretty rare over here in germany.

they're fairly rare here too.
