If I really dont care about cosmetics, or top-of-the-line feel, or good old-fashioned patriotism, then am I good with just getting a Tribute version rather than the US-made one?

Often asked question, I know. But none of the threads I searched through seemed to be able to give me an outright answer.

the only thing i can say is that i feel a difference between the two, and i like the feel of the USA better. it feels more... solid, in every way.

that being said, the Tributes are amazing instruments, especially for the price.

I've never laid hands on a USA model, but I can assure you that my Tributes don't feel the least bit cheap in any way whatsoever. My advice: get a Tribute, and if after owning for a while you think it's 'missing' something then get a USA model. Tributes are great values, and if you buy a used one you can sell it for what you paid for it.

I just got a new Tribute L2000 and I was impressed with the quality of the instrument. I honestly felt like I needed to send more money. The tone is so buttery smooth. I love mine.

George W. Bush call me and told me to tell you to spend that stimulus check on a USA model....That is all.

+1 on the US models they feel better and you can buy a good used one for a little more than a new tribute.

You did n't say how much you can afford to spend. If you can afford the MIA one than go for it.

I have the Tribute and I love it. The electronics and PUPS are the same on both AFAIK.

Either way you'll be happy !!

I couldn't tell the difference tonally if blindfolded, but the USA model has a lot more choice in the neck department. The Trib comes with a P-bass neck only.

Which is fine with me, but may not be your cup of cha.

Speaking of which, I dropped by the Sherman Oaks GC on Saturday and saw a beautiful, mint Tribute L-2000 blueburst with maple board. I was really tempted to snatch it at the price you guys were offering it for, but my wallet held me down. Felt really solid, but like you said there's a little something about the US models that makes it feel a little more solid.
