L2000 Series E

I have a 1982 L2000 Series E and I was wondering if anyone knows what the "Series E" stands for and how it differs from other L2000's?

The first 2000's were passive only.
The "E" was to indicate electronic preamp.
The passive models, weren't popular, were dropped from the lineup, as was the E designation.

I've been a G&L freak since 1980; I've never laid hands on the passive model.

AFAIK the passive l2k's are quite rare- only produced for a couple of years
